My background has primarily been working with luxury brands, and I have been trained to have an eye for premium quality, superior craftsmanship, and excellent customer service. That being said, “value for money” is also something equally important to me.

I love discovering consumer or mass brands that pass the test of luxury (or at least some of its criteria). That is why I was so excited to review the Special Edition Avon Glamourbox this month. I have compared some of the AVON products with similar products from the luxury sector:

Avon Ultra Color Lipstick in Hibiscus (P379) or MAC Mineralized Lipstick in Lady at Play (P1,450)
Both are great options if you prefer luscious and vivid lip colors that moisturize and condition lips at the same time. It’s good to note that Avon’s lipstick also contains SPF 15 to shield lips from the sun.

Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Peach (P370) or VMV Hypoallergenics in Bloom Blush in Heat (P1,450)
Enhance your glowing natural Filipina skin color with a shimmery peach-tinged or coral brown blush. For hypersensitive skin, you may want to opt for the VMV Hypoallergenics blush for it is 100 dye-free and hypoallergenic.

Avon Supershock Waterproof Mascara (P420) or Eye of Horus Natural Mascara (P980)
Created specifically to be long-lasting and waterproof, these mascaras will stay on from sun up to sun down. Avon’s version delivers up to 15x more volume with its breakthrough helix brush, while Eye of Horus is impressively made of 100% natural ingredients.

Avon Anew Vitale Day Cream SPF 25 (P399) or Estee Lauder Advanced Timezone Day Cream (P3,200)
The newest Avon Anew Vitale Day Cream contains Pro-Energy complex to help strengthen skin, fills in lines, and improves skin clarity in 3 days. While the Estee Lauder Advanced Timezone Day Cream promises to re-volumize skin from the inside out with visible results in 2 weeks.

There are obviously pros and cons for either SAVING or SPLURGING on your beauty products. Often times the big difference lies in the packaging and scent. Personally, I would invest more in skincare (given my age) and would opt for the cheaper alternative for certain make up products. But at the end of the day, it should really be about what WORKS BEST FOR YOU 🙂
